Successful Law Society WIQS Accreditation

In celebration of Starck Uberoi Solicitors recently achieving accreditation of the Law Society Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS) for Wills and Probate advice, we are delighted to announce that during the month of November 2017 our Ealing and London Belgravia offices will be participating in the charity Will campaign, Will Aid 2017 The Law Society WIQS is a best quality mark for Wills and Estate administration which clients can trust and differentiates us from unregulated Will writing companies but also solicitors with infrequent experience. We have undergone rigorous assessment to gain WIQS accreditation and shows that we follow best practice procedures to meet the highest standards of technical expertise and client service in providing tailored Wills and Probate advice to consumers.

Will Aid 2017

Will Aid 2017 is a fund raising campaign run in partnership with Solicitors to encourage people to have their Will written up by a Solicitor with the opportunity to support a registered charity at the same time. Solicitors have raised over £19million towards good caused over the past 30 years working with Will Aid and we hope to play our small part in continuing to raise even more urgently needed funds for vulnerable people both in the UK and abroad.

During the month of November, we will waive our fee for drawing up a basic will and in return we ask you make a donation to one or more of the participating charities. The suggested donation is £95.00 for a basic single will and £150 for Mirror Wills. We suggest that you make the donation online to your chosen charity and bring your receipt to the office or give the donation to us which we will pass on.

We have a great deal of experience working in Partnership with various well known charities including disaster relief charity, Khalsa AidAlzeimers Society, and Cancer Research all of whom can provide testimonials to the quality of our work and efforts of our staff in raising funds for the respective charities. It is a natural progression to also now be affiliated with Will Aid 2017 particularly this year with the Law Society accrediting Starck Uberoi Solicitors with WIQS.

3 step procedure to obtain your Will

Step 1
Email us with the subject heading “Will Aid” at ravi@starckuberoi.co.uk and we shall forward you a Wills Questionnaire which we request you return to us by post or email before the end of November, at latest. Please ensure all details are completed accurately and in particular names are as per the person’s exact passport name as much of the information will be directly copied into your drafted Will. You must also send with the questionnaire, copies of two forms of ID per person making the Will – first being copy of the passport or driving license and second being a utility or bank statement less than three months old. Please do not forget to scan the ID’s, failure to do so may result in delays to complete your Will.

Kindly note, a basic Will consists of one where the following is included:

  1. Your name, date of birth and address;
  2. exact funeral wishes;
  3. exact names, addresses and dates birth for your chosen Executor/s and Beneficiary/ies;
  4. the manner in which your Estate is to pass on death – including to your partner/spouse, children and grandchildren;
  5. exact details of any specific gifts or articles, money or assets;
  6. full and exact name/s, registered charity number/s and address/es of chosen charity/ies for donation or gift purposes, listed within section 15 of the questionnaire;

Please ensure the above information is contained within your completed questionnaire. The Free Basic Will service offers a streamlined service where we can only prepare the Will based on your answers. We work on many Wills during this busy month and may not have capacity to pursue clients for clarification with incomplete answers.

It is important to point out that a basic Will does not factor in protections against creditors, divorce and re-marriage, unsettled/unstable (or young) beneficiaries or generational inheritance tax of 40% payable following death in many cases. Step 2
Following receipt of your completed questionnaire, the second step will be for our team to conduct a review and establish the type of Will and make contact with you accordingly. At this stage there is nothing you need to do until we contact you and there is no need to chase the office to confirm receipt.

Please note, we do not work to a strict November window for appointments, providing your questionnaire is returned fully completed by the end of November and your Will is deemed basic, your matter shall automatically be added to our Will Aid list, which may even go into December before the drafting of your Will. We often remind clients that your Will is an important document and should not be rushed into completing and final signing.

When we do contact you, it will be to ensure we fully understand your completed questionnaire, following which step 3 below will be entered into.

Step 3
We shall prepare your draft will and email the same for your review. This will allow you to ensure the accuracy of your Will before attending our offices to sign the Will. We will arrange a mutually convenient date or alternatively you may make your own arrangements for the signing of your Will with two designated witnesses present.
