Initial Consultation and Assessment
What to Expect: During the initial consultation, we assess your eligibility, discuss your immigration options, and outline the necessary documentation.
Time Frame: The initial consultation typically takes between 1 to 2 hours, depending on the complexity of your case. We will usually be able to provide an assessment of your case and the options open to you within 24 hours of the consultation.
Preparation and Submission of Application
What to Expect: Once we have received all necessary documents and completed the relevant forms, we prepare and send you a draft for your review and approval. Once you are happy with the completed forms, we submit your visa application to the Home Office. This step includes compiling supporting documents, drafting legal representations, and ensuring all information is accurate and complete.
Time Frame: Preparing the application can take anywhere from 2 days – 1 week, depending on the complexity of the case and the availability of required documents. If you need to apply to third parties for other documentation, this could delay the submission of your application. We will be able to advise you if the timeframes change.
Biometrics Appointment
What to Expect: After submission, you may be required to attend a biometrics appointment where your fingerprints and photograph will be taken. Some applicants may be eligible to apply using the dedicated Home Office ID app which removes the need to attend an appointment. We will advise you accordingly if this is applicable.
Time Frame Appointments are typically available within 1-2 weeks after submitting your application. However, this can vary depending on the location and the availability of slots.
Decision-Making Process
What to Expect: The Home Office will review your application and make a decision. They may request additional information or documents during this time.
Time Frame: The decision-making process varies depending on the type of visa:
- Standard Visitor Visa: approximately 3 weeks
- Skilled Worker Visa: 3 weeks
- Family Visa (spouse, partner, children): 12 weeks
- Settlement (Indefinite Leave to Remain / naturalisation): 6 months
- Student Visa: 3 weeks
Priority and Super Priority Services (not available for all types of visa application): 5 working days or next working day respectively, available for certain visas at an additional cost.
Outcome Notification
What to Expect: Once a decision has been made, you will receive notification from the Home Office. If your application is successful, you will receive either a vignette in your passport, a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) or details of how to access your digital immigration status online. This will depend on your location and visa type.
